Pioneering Climate Adaptation in Urban Environments

At GP4Streets, we recognise that streets are the heart of our neighbourhoods, yet they are often the most deprived areas in terms of green-blue-grey infrastructure (GBGI). Our vision is to transform these urban spaces into resilient, sustainable environments through innovative, do-it-yourself (DIY) GBGI solutions.

Activities

GP4Streets focuses on transforming urban environments through innovative Green-Blue-Grey Infrastructure (GBGI) solutions. We collaborate with local authorities, residents, and stakeholders to develop impactful case studies at household and street levels, building on successful initiatives like the Guildford Living Lab.

Community-led data collection plays a crucial role, gathering essential metrics on climate, air quality, urban heat, biodiversity and human health. Advanced numerical models and AI systems analyse GBGI effectiveness across various urban scales, while comprehensive ecological and wellbeing assessments contribute to creating more sustainable, adaptable and healthy urban spaces.

These efforts culminate in the development of the GP4Streets Decision-Making Tool, designed to support future GBGI implementations.

Join Us in Transforming Urban Spaces

GP4Streets is more than a research project; it’s a movement towards creating resilient, sustainable, and liveable urban environments. By addressing issues like overheating, air pollution, flooding, and mental health concerns associated with urban living, we’re paving the way for a greener, healthier future in our cities.

Together, we can turn our streets into thriving ecosystems that adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change, one neighbourhood at a time.
